Croatia in the the Spring

Eliza and I will be visiting Croatia and other points in the Balkans over the next couple weeks. I'm not sure if they have the Internets in Europe yet, so don't count on any blog entries while we're away. Also, the Postage Stamp of the Week™ is on hiatus until our return. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Postage Stamp of the Week: Love You, Dad! / Crossword Report: May '07

Friday, June 1: Time for both the Postage Stamp of the Week™ and my monthly Crossword Report™. Fortunately, I can kill two birds with one stamp, this crossword- sporting 1987 commemorative. Coincidentally, I love my glasses- wearing, coffee-drinking, occasionally crossword-solving dad, and Father's Day™ is just around the corner. I call it the perfect storm.

Not so perfect has been my crossword habit of late, which has been in a serious slump for the last month or so. However, I've been super-busy, just having put in a 60-hour week at my new job and moving residences. Suck on that.

Crosswords in Pop Culture:

Bill Clinton clued a special New York Times Magazine crossword on Sunday May 6, inspiring a similar pair of lame late-night quips: "The clue for 9 down was 'synonym for pain in the ass, rhyming with Millary'" (Conan O'Brien); "32 across, four-letter word for 'Hillary'" (Craig Ferguson).

A crossword-themed ad for Requip™, a prescription drug that treats Restless Legs Syndrome™, recently began airing on primetime network television. We see an RLS-afflicted woman relaxing on a chaise lounge, leisurely working a crossword puzzle with her legs not spazzing out -- watch it here. My glasses-wearing, coffee-drinking, occasionally crossword- solving dad takes Requip™; selenium supplements from Trader Joe's™ do the trick for me.
